Complicit

Mea Maxima Culpa: For what I have done, and what I have failed to do

Do you say that it's a hard decision but support IT?
You are complicit...
Do you support candidates who insist IT is a right?
You are complicit...
Do you walk by when someone speaks of their pain from IT and refuse to acknowledge?
You are complicit...
Do you say 'No, I'm good" to someone asking for help to stop IT?
You are complicit...
Do you refuse to talk about IT because IT is such a hot topic? Do you stay silent thinking IT does not affect you?

Stop ignoring our pain...stop saying I have a right to something that will forever be so painful to me...something you cannot imagine....stop IT...Just stop IT...stop this horror of abortion. Stop the horror of killing our children and turning a blind eye to the havoc it spreads. Just. Stop. IT.
If you are afraid to help...stop it, stop being afraid and be more afraid of what kills the soul.

I understand we cannot all be on the front lines in this war, but we can all do something to stop IT. If we are too old or health does not allow us to stand in front of an abortion facility and pray, we can pray and fast, or offer some sacrifice from our home. Do we know someone who is silently suffering? We can be a trusting shoulder to cry on, allowing mercy to funnel down like healing balm into the cracks of their bleeding heart. Rather than celebrating another's symptoms, we can listen and acknowledge the source of their woundedness. If we are one of the multitudes of the post-abortive, we can speak to merciful souls around us who understand the need to confess in order to heal. We don't need excuses for ourselves, but rather healing balm which can only come via forgiveness of the great harm we acknowledge we have done. We can speak of our healing to others because we may not know who they are, but we know we are not alone in our pain. The more we break free of the suffocating silence, the stronger we become as we slowly heal. Yes, it may take years, but every time we break free of the fear of sharing, we become someone God can and does use to stop IT; to end this holocaust on the child.

For what we have done...and what we have failed to do...forgive us Lord. Use us as a conduit of Your Mercy. Forgive us our fear, that we may take another step each day, no matter how faltering, as long as we step forward in a path of Life for us, and for our neighbor. Please Lord...grant us this grace.
